Self-Directed Surveillance Course for LTCHs & RHs (Feb 1, 2024)

We have created a self-directed surveillance course for IPAC leads and managers in Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Homes. You can access this course any time 24/7 once you have been provided with the link!

Accessing the Course:

Leads and managers in LTCH and RHs who are already part of the hub’s mailing list will receive an invite to the course via Canva at noon on Thursday February 1, 2024. Please check your junk mail if you do not receive the invite directly to your inbox.

If you opted out of having access to the course and changed your mind, please email a member of the hub to change your access.

Brief Overview of Course:

• There are no fees associated with this course… it is 100% free!
• IPUs cannot be claimed for completing this course.
• The course should take approximately 4 hours to complete.
• We would recommend that you follow the order of the steps we have outlined in the course shell. However, if you are confident in a specific area, you may choose to focus on the specific steps where further support and education is needed.
• There are three modules: case definitions and outcomes; collection and analysis; and communication. Each module has an instructional video that we recommend starting with first before reviewing the supporting resources we have created.
• Once you have completed the three modules, there are four case scenarios that we have created, which covers the four main infections that are recommended for surveillance in LTCH/RH. You may choose to do one, some, or all of the case scenarios.
• At the end, there is a voluntary and anonymous feedback survey. If you choose to complete this, the feedback you provide will help us to make improvements to this course. You can also email us directly with any feedback you may have.
• After completing the course, if you have any further questions, please reach out to the hub for support.
