Self-Directed Surveillance Course for LTCHs & RHs (August 30, 2024)

We have created a self-directed surveillance course for IPAC leads and managers in Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Homes. You can access this course any time 24/7 once you have been enrolled in our new online learning platform! Please email Sebrina Lam, RN BScN CIC if you are interested in enrolling in this course.

Brief Overview of Course:

• There are no fees associated with this course… it is 100% free!
• IPUs cannot be claimed for completing this course.
• The course should take approximately 1-2 hours to complete.
• We would recommend that you follow the order of the steps we have outlined in the course shell. However, if you are confident in a specific area, you may choose to focus on the specific steps where further support and education is needed.
• There are three modules: case definitions and outcomes; collection and analysis; and communication. Each module has an instructional video that we recommend starting with first before reviewing the supporting resources we have created.
• Once you have completed the three modules, there are four case scenarios that we have created, which covers the four main infections that are recommended for surveillance in LTCH/RH. You may choose to do one, some, or all of the case scenarios.
• At the end, there is a feedback survey. The feedback you provide will help us to make improvements to this course. You can also email us directly with any feedback you may have.
• After completing the course, if you have any further questions, please reach out to the hub for support.
